STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five

 

AN ACT relative to required holocaust and genocide study requirements for an adequate public education.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Instruction in National and State History and Government; Genocide Education.  Amend RSA 189:11, I-c(j) to read as follows:

(j)  How intolerance, bigotry, antisemitism, and national, ethnic, racial, or religious hatred and discrimination have evolved in the past, and can evolve, into genocide and mass violence, such as the Holocaust, and how to prevent the evolution of such practices. Such instruction shall include at least 5 hours of study to include, at minimum, instruction on the United Nations (UN) definition of genocide, the UN resolution on human rights, the Holocaust (and other Nazi committed genocides), the Armenian genocide, the Rwandan genocide, the genocide of indigenous peoples in the United States, and the Palestinian genocide.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2025.

This bill, effective for the 2025-2026 school year, expands the holocaust and genocide study requirements for an adequate public education to include at least five hours of discussion on different genocides and the United Nations.
