METHODOLOGY:
This bill requires any current member of the House of Representatives or Senate who receives a contribution or makes an expenditure of $1,000 or more to submit an itemized statement to the Secretary of State within 48 hours.
The Department of State has noted that implementing an online campaign finance reporting system on the Secretary of State's webpage to accept and maintain these reports would require software upgrades, estimated at a general fund cost of $75,000 in FY 2026. The Department notes the cost could be higher as it has not engaged in contract amendment negotiations with the vendor.
